RELIGIOUS PROJECTS
GRACE REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
As a result of a close personal contact within the congregation, Burchick was awarded a contract to renovate an existing structure into a new home for the Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church (GRPC) in Gibsonia, PA. Burchick entered into a Design-Build contract by teaming with Desmone Associates to complete this project.
The building originally served as an office and warehouse for a Plumbing Supply and Service contractor.
The interior of the existing building would be substantially demolished to create new rooms for the Sanctuary, Nursery, Fellowship Hall, Narthex, and Restrooms.
In addition to demolition, several openings in the existing exterior walls were infilled, while other new openings were created. The new openings would be equipped with windows, exterior doors, and storefront assemblies.
New underground plumbing was installed to service the new restrooms. A new rooftop air handling unit was installed to provide HVAC to all the main floor rooms. In addition, baseboard heaters were installed along perimeter exterior walls for supplemental heat.
A new parapet was constructed at the main entrance and a new standing seam metal roof was installed over the entire roof area. The main entrance was clad with face brick and new storefront was installed at the main entrance. Most of the exterior walls were covered in new cement board siding. A prefabricated aluminum steeple was set at the ridge of the gable roof system.
The building required a new main electrical service which was brought in from Route 910, about 200 years from the building.
The sitework included rework of the existing parking lot to accommodate ADA requirements for parking and facility access. On the interior of the building, the audio-visual system was retrofitted to improve both sound and lighting. Similarly, new lighting was installed to service most of the finished spaces.
Interior finishes included new carpet, ceramic tile, and painting throughout. Millwork was also provided in the Nursery area.
This project was completed on a fast-track basis with occupancy by GRPC ahead of schedule.
