UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE CARRIER ANNEX  |  North Huntingdon Township, PA
Owner  United States Postal Service
Architect  STV Inc.
Cost  $3,324,000

The carrier annex was a functional non-retail mail distribution center built under a design-build contract.  Burchick Construction worked closely with the USPS to adjust the project design to meet the budget and work with a difficult site.  Cost saving items were suggested such as using split-face masonry walls with foamed insulation to increase the R-value without affecting the durability of block for both the outside and inside faces of the exterior walls.  The structural design was changed to long span joist and girders to provide the open space requested while reducing the structural cost.  The end product exceeded the requirements of the USPS and is functioning to service their needs.
