SPECIALTY PROJECTS

Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort – Fountain Restoration |  Blairsville, PA

In March of 2023, a well-defined cold front moved through western Pennsylvania which was accompanied by strong winds and microbursts of rain. The strong winds brought damage to trees and structures throughout the region.

In Blairsville, PA, the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort was a victim of this storm damage. As you enter the governor’s driveway into the resort, a large multi-tiered fountain greets visitors to the facility. The storms of March 2023 sheared the upper tiers of the fountain bowls from the main fountain column, and the collapsed bowls damaged the basins surrounding this specialty structure.

Burchick was retained to repair and replace those features of the fountain damaged by the storm. This included the plumbing and electrical components that support the operation of the fountain. In addition, Burchick worked to refurbish or replace the decorative concrete and plaster units that comprise the statues and bowls for the fountain’s superstructure.

Burchick awarded a contract to a specialty fountain fabricator in Utah to create an architectural piece that would closely represent the original fountain design. Burchick also worked with the fabricator and ownership group to select a concrete color and mix that would complement the existing basin which was left largely undamaged from the storm.

After this careful coordination process, the replacement pieces were delivered in August 2023 and set into place in September 2023. Patching and seal coats were applied to the required areas and the fountain was placed back into full operation in mid-September 2023.

While somewhat unusual, Burchick completed this project with great success. The Owners were very pleased with the outcome. This project demonstrates Burchick’s ability to study, develop, and coordinate a design/fabrication solution. The new product incorporates existing architecture with new replaced components, to create an architecturally pleasing feature that enhances the facility entrance.
